Sustainability Tours 2023

Sustainability Walking Tours July 25, 2023

On Tuesday, July 25, 2023 the Green Team hosted walking tours showcasing sustainable aspects of the Panorama campus, including trees, solar panels, EV charging stations, one of the recycling centers, the pesticide-free Pea Patch, sustainable aspects of the Auditorium and landscaping, and more. Green Team volunteers led the tours, and experts were available at selected locations to describe the sustainable features and answer questions. The distance was approximately 1.5 miles, and total time for each tour was about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Green Team members and Panorama Grounds representatives were at the Pavilion so that tour participants could visit with them and ask questions at the start and end of the tours. Small groups began the tour at the Pavilion at 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30, and 11 a.m. A tour map and additional information about the locations are available under Resources below. There were around 60 participants, including current residents, future residents and staff members.

Follow-up Comments about the 2023 Tours

“I really enjoyed the sustainability tour. I had no idea that Panorama was so proactive in its approach. Saying this, I think the management can put more resources into these projects.”

“Each of the presenters was excellent…well-prepared, informative and also very welcoming! We were quite impressed with all you are doing to make Panorama environmentally-friendly. As future residents, it was very exciting to look forward to even more changes. (And we agree that a pesticide-free, toxin-free campus is a highly-desirable goal.)”

“WOW…what an amazing tour!  It was beautifully presented with knowledgeable, approachable members of the Green Team at each venue.  I am impressed with our Green Auditorium, the new EV charging station, the recycling review and even the small touches in the Aquatic Center to refill our permanent water bottles at the fountain.  The Pea Patch stop was impressive & informative, as well.  The “my favorite tree” movie in the Auditorium was charming!  Well done, Green Team.”

“I learned so much and was very impressed with the depth of the knowledge the presenters shared. I look forward to future events.”

“We were so glad we signed up for this tour!  It was a great idea, very well organized and extremely interesting and informative.  We figured that we already knew most of the sustainability initiatives on this campus, but we were wrong – there is so much more than we knew about.  Because of going on this tour today we learned a great deal about historic and continuing efforts to reduce Panorama’s consumption of resources and carbon footprint, and we were reassured to learn that many of the issues that concern us are already being addressed by management and volunteer organizations.”
