9.1.1 Management and Key Contacts: Recycling, as a part of the Green Team, is managed by the Corporations’s Panorama Grounds Department. They are the key contact for LeMay who is the vendor for the recycling waste and who empties the various bins on a regular basis. This also includes the Metal Recycling unit with Sutter Metals as the collecting vendor.
9.1.2 Recycling Lead and Recycling Buddy Volunteers: Residents move into Panorama from other areas and may not know what the recycling criteria is at their new home. As a result, there is a resident volunteer who is the lead for several recycling monitors. These “Recycling Buddies” form a cadre of monitors, who formally or informally monitor the two recycling centers on a daily basis. Their goal is to remove any item that is not recyclable in any of the bins including glass and organic waste and place in the garbage.
9.1.3 Responsibilities of Recycling Lead:
The Recycling Lead has the following responsibilities:
- Recruit, train and mentor new monitors and provide any educational materials needed for their recycling tasks.
- Educate residents and provide information when requested.
- Update and print (at the Panorama print shop) the Recycling Brochure which is available at the two recycling centers and is used for training. It is also distributed via some of our Green Team members to new residents when they move into Panorama.
- Communicate with the monitors on a regular basis any changes in the recycling rules or on topics that would be of help to them in doing their recycling tasks.
- Update, change or add new signage as needed at the recycling centers.
- Represent the recycling program at Green Team Steering Committee meetings as necessary.
- Plan and present programs on recycling for Panorama residents.
- Provide information about recycling and composting to the Green Team webmaster for inclusion in the Green Team website.
- Communicate with the Grounds manager any topic concerning the recycling efforts that would be helpful to them or to work with them on issues which may need collaboration.
