Ground was broken on Thursday, April 9, 2015 on what will become an attraction and home for different species of native butterflies and bees at Panorama. Together with Panorama, the Green Team hopes to develop a habitat suitable for ground and twig nesting bees and for some species of butterflies and their larvae. Planting and maintenance of the Garden will be done by Green Team volunteers.
It will take several years for the soil to be developed and for plants to establish themselves, so we see this as a long term project. However, there will be flowers that will attract visitors as early as this summer of 2015, and we hope to involve residents as citizen scientists in the Great Sunflower Project. It’s a fun and easy project and more information will be forthcoming, or you can go yourself to https://www.greatsunflower.org.
